Valentine Fortune Cookies

These Valentine’s patterned fortune cookies are a sweet and thoughtful homemade treat, decorated with delicate pink hearts, stripes, and polka dots. Each crisp cookie hides a special message inside, making them perfect for gifting, date nights, or sharing with loved ones. Simple to make yet beautifully charming, they’re the cutest way to spread a little love this Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients:

  • 60 g plain flour

  • 1 tbsp milk powder

  • 1 tbsp corn starch

  • 60 g icing sugar

  • Pinch of salt

  • 2 large egg whites

  • 30 ml milk

  • 30 ml vegetable oil

  • Pink gel food colouring (for light and dark shades)

Instructions:

1. Sift the flour, milk powder, corn starch, icing sugar, and salt into a bowl for a smooth texture. Add egg whites, milk, and oil, then mix until just combined.

2. Divide 2 tablespoons of batter into two small bowls. Tint one with light pink gel colour and the other with dark pink gel colour. Transfer each into separate piping bags. Keep the remaining batter plain.

3. Preheat oven to 150°C . Spoon 1 tablespoons plain batter onto a non-stick tray or silicone mat lined tray and spread thinly into an 8–10 cm circle.

4. Pipe designs over the thin batter circles: hearts, stripes, polka dots, or any Valentine’s pattern you like.

5. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges turn lightly golden.

6. Working quickly while hot:

  • Place a Valentine’s message inside (text facing down).

  • Fold the cookie in half.

  • Bend over the rim of a glass to form the classic fortune cookie shape.

  • Place in a muffin tin to cool and set.

7. If the cookies are too soft, return to the oven for about 10-10 minutes until crisp at oven temperature 90c.

Slip in sweet Valentine’s messages and gift them to your loved ones, the cutest edible surprise!
